1948 - 2004

1948 Shirley Moran sells her first trailer. Sales lot in the Arlington section of Cranston established.

1950 Jack Moran joins the business full time.

1951 Jack and Shirley bring the first trailer with a built-in shower and toilet to Rhode Island.

1953 Firm begins buildng and renting utility trailers.

1955 Branch mobile home sales operation opened in Groton, Connecticut.

1960 Construction begins on Arlington Acres Mobile Home Park in Stonington, Connecticut.

1962 Arlington becomes the first company to sell and rent tent campers in Rhode Island. Steve Moran, age 14, takes a summer job with the firm.

1964 Arlington becomes the New England distributor for Right tent campers.

1966 Arlington opens first "Discount Warehouse" for recreational vehicles in the Apponaug Mill complex in Warwick, R.I.

1967 Arlington takes on the Coleman folding trailer franchise.

1969 Spectacular fire burns Arlington's "Discount Warehouse" and 32 other businesses to the ground.

1970 Construction is completed on a facility at the present Route 2, Warwick location.

1971 Arlington is the first to retail a fifth wheel camper in Rhode Island.

1973 Steve Moran and Ken Cogswell join the firm on a full time basis.

1974 Oil embargo stifles business. 10 percent of the R.V. industry is lost. Arlington survives and begins selling Winnebago motorhomes.

1975 Construction completed on expanded service and parts facilities.

1976 Sandi (Moran) O'Leary joins firm. Steve Moran is promoted to General Manager.

1979 Devastating hail storm creates huge "Hail Sale" at Arlington.

1980 Recession, gas crunch, and high interest rates hurt R.V. industry. Arlington buys up "distress" merchandise nationwide, retails units at bargain prices, and thrives.

1985 Linda (Moran) Tarro joins firm.

1986 Shirley Moran, company founder, dies of cancer.

1988 Company is renamed "Arlington R.V. Supercenter, Inc." as 80 percent of it's sales are motorized vehicles.

1989 Additional land is acquired. A larger customer storage area, a public dump station, an overnight camping area, more offices, more display area, and a night key depository was added in keeping with the concept of a "Supercenter", where all R.V. resources can be found.

1990 Jack Moran is killed in an automobile accident. Steve Moran becomes president of the company, Linda Tarro becomes Vice President, and Sandi O'Leary becomes Treasurer. Recreational Vehicle industry is hurt by the recession.

1991 Credit Unions are closed in Rhode Island paralyzing business in the state. Arlington begins selling Sandpiper travel trailers.

1993 Arlington begins selling slide out motorhomes (Kountry Aire and Mountain Aire) built by the Newmar Corporation.

1995 Cobra Industries, one of Arlington's largest manufacturers, suddenly declares bankruptcy. Arlington honors all warranties for Cobra products purchased from them.

1997 Arlington captures Winnebago "Circle of Excellence" award for customer service for 9th consecutive year. Firm captures Fleetwood "Circle of Excellence" award with 100 percent customer rating for sixth consecutive year.

1998 Arlington posts record sales of $19,000,000. Employee count and inventories advance to record levels. Excellence awards won again.

2003 Adjacent property purchased. Separate pre-delivery inspection (PDI) facility opened.

2004 Approvals sought to build facility three times larger at one of two nearby locations.

2006 Arlington captures Winnebago "Circle of Excellence" award for customer service for 18th consecutive year. Firm captures Fleetwood "Circle of Excellence" award for fifteeth consecutive year.
